The table seats 4-8 comfortably; it comes with two leaf inserts, one of which is installed in the photos above. The finish is a medium brown, and the wood might be oak but I am honestly just guessing about that. It's not light enough to be pine, and not dark enough to be mahogany, so there you go.
The chairs are comfy for the duration of even a long holiday meal, and are made of the same sturdy wood as the table.
